We can work it out...

It's an old Beatles song - but it means a lot.  We need to work together to get this worked out for the community, by the community.  we want to make HGS into a hub for our community - for everyone in our area to enjoy.  You can help.  Here are some of the things you can do:

Public support needed for enhancing the listed status of HGS.

This suggestion came up at the Public meeting in Heanor on November 17th. We have now tracked down the official advice on which it was based.

Borough Council staff have advised that an uplift in listing for the former Heanor Grammar School from Grade II to II* would certainly benefit from an enforcement point of view and they would encourage as many people as possible to register as an interested party with Historic England.

Historic England have already received an application to consider upgrading the listing from Grade II to II*, from Heanor Grammar School Action group, (application reference 1460138). The public can submit additional comments and supporting information on the matter directly to Gaynor Roberts, the Senior Listing Coordinator, at Gaynor.Roberts@HistoricEngland.org.uk.
